The Top Facebook Statistics You Should Know in 2025

If you’re building a holistic marketing strategy, and you’re not investing in paid and organic campaigns on Facebook, you’re missing out. TikTok might be generating a lot of hype right now, but Facebook statistics prove that Meta’s platform is still the big daddy for social media marketing.

It’s still the platform with the best targeting tools for paid social, and it’s still the most used platform in the world (by a hefty margin).

In fact, despite being around 20 years old – Facebook remains the ultimate channel for reaching new leads, nurturing customers, and building brand awareness. That’s why we almost always use this channel as part of our full-funnel marketing strategies for growing brands.

Need more evidence before you dive head-first into a Facebook marketing strategy? No problem, we’ve scoured the internet for the most up to date Facebook statistics you can use to learn all about Facebook’s potential. Consider this your Facebook fact cheat sheet.

General Facebook Statistics: Why it’s the Social Media Giant

Let’s start by looking at the Facebook statistics that prove first-hand that this channel is the ultimate place to start with any organic or paid social media marketing strategy.

  1. There are More than 3 Billion Monthly Active Users on Facebook

As of 2024, more than 3.07 billion people are using Facebook worldwide. Even as newer channels, like TikTok grab the attention of younger audiences, Facebook is still the place to be if you want to reach more than half of all the internet users globally.

Meta (Facebook’s parent company) even found that nearly 4 billion people are using at least one of their core products every month (WhatsApp, Messenger, Facebook or Instagram).

  1. Facebook is the Most Popular Social Media Network

With such a huge number of monthly users, it’s probably no surprise that Facebook statistics show this channel is the most “popular” social media network around. Runner-up, YouTube, only earns about 2.4 billion monthly active users in comparison.

Even if you look beyond social channels, Facebook is the third most visited website globally, falling just beneath Google and YouTube, according to SimilarWeb’s rankings.

  1. Facebook will Reach More than 75% of the World’s Population by 2027

While it’s true that Facebook reach has diminished slightly (particularly among younger generations), it’s still a channel with exceptional scope. Analysts say that Facebook will reach 75% of the world’s population by 2027.

That means you’re almost guaranteed to connect with a significant portion of your target audience if you build the right marketing campaigns for Facebook.

The Top Facebook Statistics: User Statistics

Now, let’s dive a little deeper. You know you can reach up to 75% of the world’s population on Facebook by 2027 – but what kind of customers are actually using this channel?

  1. India is the Country with the Most Facebook Users

It’s easy to assume Facebook would have the biggest presence in the United States (after all, Meta is based in the US). However, India has the highest number of Facebook users by far (378 million users compared to around 138 million in the US.

If you’re looking to branch out with a wider global audience, Facebook makes it easy to reach millions of customers in virtually every region.

  1. Most of Facebook Users are Male

In 2024, Facebook’s user base features more “males” than females. Around 56.3% of users identify as male (according to the latest statistics), while 43.7% of users identify as female. However, it’s worth noting that these Facebook statistics don’t account for non-binary users.

  1. Most of Facebook Users are Between 25 to 34 Years Old

According to the latest data in 2024, Facebook offers an excellent way to reach a broad selection of customers from different age ranges. The majority of the platform’s users are between 25-34 years old (31.1%). However, 20.2% of the platforms users are between the ages of 35 and 45. Plus, around 5.6% of Facebook’s audience members are over 65 years old.

Adoption among younger generations has definitely slowed (only around 33% of teenagers have an active Facebook account today, compared to 71% between 2014-2015).

However, there’s still a large young adult base on Facebook. Around 23% of the platform’s users are between the ages of 18 and 24.

  1. Only 19% of Teens Use Facebook Daily

While there are still teenagers active on Facebook, studies show that only around 19% of teens use the platform on a daily basis. Studies also show that the teens who are active on Facebook are more likely to be from middle or lower-income families.

About 45% of the teenagers on Facebook had an annual family income of less than $30,000. This could mean using Facebook advertising makes more sense if you’re going to be promoting more “budget-conscious” products.

  1. More than 2 Billion People Still Use Facebook Every Day

Although you might not get as much “daily attention” from younger customers on Facebook, you’ll still have access to a lot of regular die-hard users. More than 2.09 billion users log into the app or site on a daily basis – that’s actually an increase of 5% since 2023.

Facebook Statistics: How People Use Facebook

So, what about Facebook usage statistics? We know the majority of Facebook’s users log into the app every day – but how long do they spend interacting with content, and what are they looking for on the platform? Here are some usage statistics you should know this year.

  1. Users Spend around 20 Hours a Month on Facebook

On average, Facebook users spend around 20 hours a month on the platform. In particular, American users log about 30.9 minutes on the platform each day – putting Facebook ahead of other leading platforms like Instagram, X, and even TikTok.

  1. More than 80% of Users Visit Facebook from Their Phones

If you were waiting for a sign to take a mobile-first approach to your full-funnel marketing strategy this year – this is it. Only around 1.5% of users say they only access the platform through a laptop or desktop, while 81.8% only use Facebook through their smartphones.

  1. Users Spend 50% of Their Time Watching Videos

Facebook’s own marketing statistics found that 50% of the time that users spend on the platform is dedicated to watching video content – the same applies to Instagram. More than 2 billion people watch videos on Facebook every month, and 74% of non-skippable video ads are watched all the way through. That means video should definitely play a part in your strategy going forward.

  1. 59% of Users Connect with Brands on Facebook

Over 72% of Facebook users say they still primarily use the platform to connect with friends and family members. Mostly, they’re direct messaging loved ones through Messenger, or posting/sharing content relevant to their personal network.

However, 54.3% of people also follow and research brands on the platform, and more than 59% of users have actively reached out to a business through Facebook. Clearly, even if you’re just using Facebook to improve customer support, it’s a great channel for communicating with your audience.

  1. 30% of Adults Get News from Facebook

YouTube is currently the second most popular social media source for people who want to stay up-to-date with current events – but Facebook stands at the top of the pile. In America, more than 30% of adults access news directly through their Facebook feeds.

Distributing news and press releases on Facebook could be the ideal way to boost brand awareness, and drive more attention to your website.

Facebook Statistics for Businesses

We’ll dive into the biggest Facebook statistics for advertising teams and growing brands in a moment, but first, let’s look at some more general Facebook stats for businesses.

  1. More than 200 Million Businesses Use Meta Apps

Facebook, as well as the other top apps in Meta’s portfolio (WhatsApp and Instagram), have become crucial resources – particularly for small businesses. These companies are relying on Meta resources to create virtual storefronts, connect with customers, and increase sales.

  1. 91% of Organizations have a Presence on Facebook

If your company isn’t active on Facebook yet, you can rest assured that your competitors probably already have a Facebook profile. More than 91% of organizations have a Facebook presence – making it one of the most popular platforms for companies, followed by Instagram and LinkedIn.

Despite this, only around 62% of companies say they’re confident that Facebook marketing delivers a measurable “Return on Investment”. That highlights how important it is to work with Facebook advertising specialists who can deliver clear results.

  1. Brands Post on Facebook an Average of 5 Times Per Week

The companies that are using Facebook for marketing, advertising, and building brand awareness, know how important it is to stay active. On average, companies post on the platform around 5 times a week (although posting frequencies vary for each industry).

This could mean that Facebook is the best place to start building end-to-end shopping journeys for your target audience.
